It's the single phrase we've heard most often in the nearly three months (already!) since we arrived. It's one of the first things out of the mouths of shopkeepers, colleagues, and random people we meet on the ski trails, all of whom seem genuinely confident we'll like living here.
We might have had a different first impression. We landed in Edmonton after dark on Boxing Day, right into a five-day, -30 cold snap. With one week to go until the first day of work, an hour less daylight than we'd had in Ontario, and (surprisingly) no snow, we weren't tempted to do more than two things:
1. Get all our belongings out of the moving boxes before the boxes became part of the furniture; and
2. Buy a car before our four-day rental was up.
We are now the proud owners of a box-free, four-bedroom bungalow and a new-to-us Subaru Impreza named Norm. (Partial credit goes to Old Man Winter for keeping us focused.)
Since that first head-down-and-go week, we've been busy discovering an inviting town that has plenty of interesting people and events on the go. Stay tuned for future posts on:

| No boxes in here! Lots of older carpet and floral accents, though. |
